The First Annual Meeting-Workshop of CASPISNET - "Environmental and Anthropogenic Risk Assessment Towards Sustainable Development of the Caspian Sea Region"
Between the dates of 14-17 September, in 2018 within the IWG action plan was held the first annual expert level Meeting-Workshop on a theme of "Environmental and Anthropogenic Risk Assessment Towards Sustainable Development of the Caspian Sea Region" targeted more specialised researchers and stakeholders from public and private institutions which aim to be in CASPISNET team connecting the research on the Caspian Basin with the UN Agenda 2030 at Holiday Inn Hotel, Baku, Azerbaijan.
In their speech Jürg Neuenschwander (The Consul of Switzerland), Acad, Prof. Ramiz Mammadov (Director of the Institute of Geography), Dr. Alexandre Babak Hedjazi (Deputy Director of International Affairs office of UNIGE), Dr. Aliakbar Rasuly (Macquarie University), Dr. Nazim Abdullayev (BP), Chingiz Mammadov (UNDP Azerbaijan), Stefano Vignudelli (NCR), in their presentations highly supported the initiative of CASPISNET.
During the workshop scientists from Australia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Italy, France, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, South Korea worked hard all together and decided to focus and organise work not only on active project calls but mostly concentrate attention on the preparation of the "framework program" within the framework of the Environmental and anthropogenic risk assessment towards the sustainable development of the Caspian Sea Region. Following the experience taken from Aral lake and taking into account the agreement signed by the Caspian countries presidents on 12 August.
Today CASPISNET joints scientists and organisations from 15 Countries covering 4 continents (Azerbaijan, Australia, Iran, Italy, Chile, France, Germany, Kazakstan, Russia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Switzerland, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Georgia, the USA (also on negotiation with England).
