Dr. Alexei Kouraev
He works as an assistant professor at LEGOS/University Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, France. He holds a M.Sc (1992) and Ph.D (1998) in Oceanology from Moscow State University, Geographical Faculty, Russia and an HDR (Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches, 2014) from University Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, France. He has published over 40 papers (Web of Science).
Member of CNES TOSCA "Oceans" group (since 2015), member of French-Indian TRISHNA satellite mission scientific group (since 2019). Supervised or co-supervised 5 PhD students and 20 Master students, teaching at Toulouse Paul Sabatier University.
Scientific interest: study of lakes, inland seas, rivers and floodplains from satellite observations. Recent studies also address water dynamics in large lakes (Baikal, Hovsgol, Ladoga, Onega, Sevan etc) using satellite remote sensing and dedicated field work.
